QUALILTY INSPECTION

The question of managing quality is one of the key factors preventing businesses from venturing to the Far East to source their products.

In order to ensure continued quality there are a number of vital stages within our sourcing process which MUST be in place.

Suppliers

We normally check cost prices from a variety of manufacturers. We narrow down the supplier pool by checking that the supplier is authentic and capable of manufacturing a product meeting the specification and quality required by the client.

See our section on Supplier Selection and Due Diligence for more information.

Samples

Once a quotation has been accepted we arrange an initial sample for checking by the client. Depending on the sourcing project the first sample could be a handmade prototype or simply the off-the-shelf product in its existing form. The purpose of this sample is to allow the client to understand the functionality and quality of the product prior to placing an official order.

Before production begins we will arrange a pre-production sample. The manufacturer prepares this sample as a final checking reference, which the client must confirm. Once confirmed the manufacturer will begin production based on this sample. If any changes are made by the client after this stage, there will almost definitely be additional costs and delays involved which must be covered by the client.

Goods Inspections

Before any of our client’s products are shipped we conduct a quality inspection by a qualified inspector to ensure that the goods coming off the production line match the samples that have been confirmed and agreed by the client.

There are typically two types of inspection which can be used. In-line inspections take place during production so any problems can be discovered at an early stage and rectified, causing little disruption and delay. Pre-shipment inspections take place when the goods are completed, packed and ready to ship. This method allows packaging quality and condition to be fully reviewed before shipment.

The type of inspection we recommend will depend on the scale and complexity of production, manufacturer experience and history of the product development process. In most cases pre-shipment inspections are sufficient, however in some cases both may be required.

We work with experienced inspectors who are briefed by ourselves with samples and technical documentation. Even after inspection, goods are not released until both ourselves and our client have reviewed the inspection report documentation as a final safety measure.

Further Protection

Finally, our terms and conditions with all manufacturers are there to protect our client from poor quality goods and post-delivery problems. We can further develop these terms and conditions with suppliers according to the clients' request and specific needs.
